It’s the news we’ve all been long waiting for, SOA Fanatics! FX Networks has announced that they will film the pilot episode for Kurt Sutter’s new Mayans spin-off series! Kurt will direct the pilot episode himself, and filming is expected to begin in March 2017. Mayans MC is the next chapter in the Sons of Anarchy saga, and will tell the story of Mayans prospect EZ Reyes (actor unknown at this point) – a member who struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel and his need for respect from the women (yes, women) he loves.

*This is the point in this post where we tell you that original Sons of Anarchy series spoilers are ahead, so continue at your own risk.*

The series will be set in a post-Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) world – which means the story picks up after Jax is dead and gone, and that Charlie himself won’t be a part of the cast for this one (that is unless Kurt includes flashbacks to the original series, maybe?) – and that makes us wonder if we’ll actually get to see the SAMCRO Charming charter run by fan favorite Filip “Chibs” Telford (Tommy Flanagan). Many of us don’t want to see the SAMCRO world without Jax, but we struggle because we kinda can’t wait to see Chibs as President either! This is the first time FX has announced any actual details about the plans regarding Mayans MC.

Watch the announcement, straight from Entertainment Weekly, below, and tell us in the comments if you can’t wait until March! How do you feel about a Sons of Anarchy world where Jax Teller doesn’t exist? Do you think Kurt will come up with ways to include him into the story anyway? Would you be ecstatic if Kurt managed to intertwine Jax into the new story, or are you looking forward to lost of new story lines in Mayans MC? Sound off below!
