*SPOILER ALERT! This post contains MAJOR spoilers from Sons of Anarchy Season 2. If you have yet to watch, view this post at your own risk!*
Gemma (Teller-Morrow, Katey Sagal) was a fierce MC mother, oftentimes putting her needs aside to protect her boys and the club. This rang especially true during Season 2 of Sons of Anarchy, when she was brutally attacked and raped by AJ Weston (Henry Rollins), a member of L.O.A.N. (League of American Nationalists) and Ethan Zobelle (Adam Arkin)’s right hand man. She kept the rape to herself for weeks, to protect Jax (Teller, Charlie Hunnam), Clay (Morrow, Ron Perlman), and the boys.
Ethan knew that if he’d raped Gemma, and she went back to Clay to tell him that it would hurt SAMCRO, right in their heart – their epicenter – and that they’d be quick to retaliate. He banked on the fact that he’d be able to ruin Clay and SAMCRO, because they wouldn’t take the time to think or plan their retaliation against him, and to him that meant he’d be able to tear SAMCRO down, piece by piece. Gemma knew this, and that is why only Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie) – the man who found her – and Doctor Tara (Knowles, Maggie Siff) were the only two to know hwat happened to her for a long time.
After a while, Gemma, under the gentle coaxing of Tara, finally admitted to the boys what had happened to her, and why. At the point in which she told the club, Jax and Clay were going head-to-head with one another, and Gemma feared SAMCRO was falling apart at that point anyway. Watch Gemma’s chilling rape confession from Sons of Anarchy Season 2 below, and tell us in the comments how you’d felt for Gemma right at that point in the series. Do you think she should have made that confession sooner?
