Kim Coates, best known to us for his portrayal as Alexander “Tig” Trager in Sons of Anarchy is back in the movie mindset again, this time with an IFC film called “The Land”. The movie was set and shot in Cleveland, OH and was written and directed by a native Clevelander, Steven Caple Jr. It also features two Cleveland musicians – Machine Gun Kelly and Ezzy – and they both have featured roles and have contributed to the fantastic soundtrack.
“The Land” tells the story of teens in urban America, those who are at risk every day of their lives, and the struggles they face to make it in society today. Kim himself portrays “Uncle Steve”, a man who, now sober for two years, runs a grimy hot-dog diner and lives with a down-and-out hooker, Turquoise (Erykah Badu), who is uncommonly not sober. As Uncle Steve to main character Cisco (Jorge Lendeborg Jr.), Kim portrays a man caring for his nephew – because he once supplied the drugs that killed Cisco’s mother.
