Maggie Siff played Tara Knowles-Teller in the FX hit drama Sons of Anarchy for an entire 6 seasons, and without her the show definitely wouldn’t have been the same. We’re always talking about how the characters made us feel – what about them or their situations resonated within us, and how they changed our lives and our perspective. Rarely ever do we think about how the actresses and actors felt about their own characters, which is why today, we’re going to share a throwback interview with Maggie about Tara Knowles-Teller and what the character meant to her.
She used her perspective as a mother to help Tara become the fierce momma that we knew and loved. She knew that she had to delve deeply into her own personal life and feelings to turn Tara into the fighter she was for Abel (Teller, Evan/Ryder Londo) and Thomas (Teller, Victoria/Sophia Markov). Maggie became a mom herself shortly after she stopped filming for Sons of Anarchy, so a lot of what she used for Tara was purely inventive.
Check out the throwback interview below, and tell us in the comments how much love you still have for Maggie Siff. Were you Team Tara, or Team Gemma? What do you think Tara could have done differently throughout her time on Sons of Anarchy? Do you think she really tapped into the extreme feelings of motherhood for the role?
