In another jaw-dropping announcement at Comic Con 2016 in San Diego, CA, Sons of Anarchy alum Charlie Hunnam (Jackson “Jax” Teller) revealed that he will, in fact, not be reprising the role of Raleigh Beckett in the Pacific Rim sequel, Pacific Rim 2. He portrayed the robot-controlling hero in the original film, and looked oh, so sexy doing so.

The reason he won’t be returning? Politics, and scheduling conflicts. To MTV News, Charlie said,

There was definitely an incarnation of this sequel that involved me, but there was a changing of ownership, of the studio itself, Legendary, and I think that because they partnered up with a Chinese company — and the film was so successful there — there was a real agenda to get that film into production as soon as possible, and I was already booked up for a significant period of the time they were going to need.”

After divulging that the early draft of the film featured him, once again, in a leading role. He did say, however, that he is excited to see a sequel happening, and that he will go see it himself when it is released in theaters.

Remember Charlie Hunnam as Raleigh Beckett below, and tell us in the comments how sad you are that Charlie will not be reprising his Pacific Rim role. Will you still go watch the movie without him in it? Or have you decided it might not be worth the watch without him?
