Second Chance Motorcycle Club out of Iowa is not quite like the other motorcycle clubs we’ve come to know, and they’re the polar opposite of what we know SAMCRO to be. They’re the oldest sober motorcycle club known – and they’re making efforts within their community to host alcohol and drug free events for residents to participate in. The Second Chance MC consists of roughly 17 members, who have 2 things in common – they love motorcycles, and have struggled with addiction in the past.
Ten years ago, Second chance bought a ten acre parcel of land outside of Eldon, IA, and they open it to the public for one weekend every year – Memorial Day weekend. Club President, Tom McClure insists that the event is important because it offers a clean and sober way to spend the holiday with friends and family. Memorial Day weekend offers many temptations to those fighting to stay on the right side of addiction.
The Memorial Day weekend event for 2016 was decked with tons of activities – music, classic bike games, pie eating contests and had no shortage of good times. It just goes to show, you don’t need alcohol or drugs in order to have fun. Check out Second Chance in action with the video below, and tell us how proud you are of the members of Second Chance for putting up the good fight against their addiction(s)!
Slow race victory lap. Congratulations Rory.
