40 years ago today, the man who came to be Sons of Anarchy’s Harry “Opie” Winston was born in Santa Monica, CA. Born to parents Rick Hurst and Candace Kaniecki, Ryan Hurst grew up to be a talented and skillful actor, not only starring in Sons of Anarchy, but also Remember The Titans, Rango, We Were Soldiers, and Outsiders, plus many, many more.
Ryan attended Santa Monica High School, and shortly after graduation, he jumped head first into the world of show business. It helps that he grew up in a Hollywood family – mom Candace is a renowned acting coach. He got his start in TV series Saved By The Bell: The New Class, portraying Crunch Grabowski for two episodes in 1993. He was only 17 years old when he starred in the series.
He met now-wife Molly Cookson only a year after his run on Saved By The Bell: The New Class, in 1994, and the pair exchanged vows in May of 2005.
