Kurt Sutter said it himself, on Facebook of course, that BOOM! Studios (the makers of his Lucas Stand Comic Book) is releasing a new Sons of Anarchy prequel comic book series, named ‘Redwood Original’. The comic story centers around an 18-year-old version of Jax (Teller, Charlie Hunnam) and is written by Ollie Masters, with input from Kurt Sutter himself. Do you know what this means? Jax will ride again!!!

According to The Hollywood Reporter,

[The story] follows an 18-year-old Jax as he leaves high school still trying to come to terms with his dead father’s legacy and the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club as a whole.

Ollie Masters himself, to The Hollywood Reporter, says,

“It’s Jax prospecting to become a full club member. This is a story about him proving himself — to the club, to their enemies and allies and to himself. In [the TV series], the shadow of his father looms large over him and it does in our series as well, but for us it’s recent history, so it’s more of an open wound than a scar being pulled open. He’s still dealing with J.T’s death and what it means to exist in a masculine heavy world without a father to guide him.”

This is fantastic news! Reportedly, Jax isn’t the only favorite character from the show to appear in the comic – his mother and step-father, Gemma Teller-Morrow (Katey Sagal) and Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) will also be in the series, as well as best friend Harry “Opie” Winston (Ryan Hurst).

Aren’t you mad excited that we have a chance to look into a young Jax, before the weight of the club became too much for him? The first comic in the series is set to be released digitally and in comic book stores Aug. 3. This comic book series will be the second Sons of Anarchy collective from Boom! Studios – the first, which contained 25 issues, took place between seasons 5 and 6 of the show.
