WOOT! It’s the news we’ve been long waiting for! It is now official news – FX is getting back into business with Kurt Sutter and the Sons of Anarchy universe. Nearly eight months after Sons of Anarchy Executive Producer Kurt Sutter announced plans to revisit the story of the biker drama from the Mayans perspective, FX has officially ordered a script for the spinoff show, titled Mayans MC. Kurt shared the news via Facebook earlier this afternoon, with a simple post.

“#SOA Fans…Get Ready” is all he said, sharing the announcement made by The Hollywood Reporter. The news agency themselves said,

Sons of Anarchy co-creators Kurt Sutter and Elgin James will develop the project, with James writing the script for the drama from Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. Mayans MC will have the same spirit as Sons, and is described as a dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1 percent outlaw, this time, reflected through a Latino lens. The Mayans played a strong role on Sons, which became FX’s highest-rated drama series in the cable network’s history during its seven-season run.

Watch an exclusive Sons of Anarchy interview that Mayans MC President Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) gave a year ago, talking about the show and his character, and tell us in the comments below how excited you are that there is now an official script picked up for the spin-off by FX!
