We’re sure you’ve all participated in, or at least heard of the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS. ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a debilitating and very progressive neurodegenerative disease which affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord – and nearly 6,000 people are diagnosed with it yearly. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is a fund and awareness raiser for ALS, that has certainly caught fire over the past couple of years – and David Labrava (Happy Lowman, Sons of Anarchy) was more than happy to participate.
The concept of the challenge was to have participants feel what ALS sufferers do on a daily basis. Those with ALS feel, all day, every day what it feels to the average, healthy person to have a bucket of ice dumped over their head. Millions of Americans have participated in the challenge, donating over $220 million for ALS research to date.
