Are you ever just rocking out at home, listening to Pandora, or Spotify, or just cruising around on YouTube, and you listen to a song and think “Damn, this one would have been perfect for Sons of Anarchy”? Sometimes the lyrics to certain songs will hit you, and make you think of the constant pain and conflict for Jax (Teller, Charlie Hunnam, Sons of Anarchy), or the crushing desperation that usually came of Gemma (Teller-Morrow, Katey Sagal, Sons of Anarchy).
I experienced that this weekend, while I was binge playing Thirty Seconds to Mars. Personally, I think frontman Jared Leto is delicious in every sense of the word, however, when their song from October of 2009, “Kings and Queens” played, I had this rush of everything Sons of Anarchy come to me. The lyrics to the chorus, “We were the kings and queens of promise, we were the victims of ourselves”, just made me think of Jax, and how he had all the potential in the world to be great, but ultimately fell victim to who he was.
Take a listen to the song below; I’ve attached a lyric video here for you so you can see how impactful the lyrics truly are. Did you experience the same feelings that I did? Did the words resonate within you, and create a flashback to Sons of Anarchy? Tell us in the comments if you think this song would have been a perfect addition to the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack!
