Maureen Ashby, portrayed by Paula Malcomson (also known as Paula Williams), was John Teller’s Belfast “wife”, if you may. If you’re familiar with John Teller’s backstory, as well as the happenings of SOA Season 3, you’ll recall that Gemma Teller-Morrow (Katey) discovered that John Teller had an affair with Maureen Ashby when he was still married to her, producing a child, Trinity Ashby (Zoe Boyle).
Maureen was married to SAMBEL ex-president, Keith McGee (Andy McPhee). Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) was responsible for Keith’s death, having killed him while in Belfast after finding out he was taking money in exchange for being a traitor against the club.
Maureen was the sister of Father Kellan Ashby (James Cosmo), the man who was partly responsible for Abel Teller’s (Evan and Ryder Londo) kidnapping at the end of Season 2. She also is who gave Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) the letters she’d received from his father John, unknowing to him, so that he may know his father the way she knew him.
Paula did a wonderful job portraying Maureen Ashby, and without the character, we wouldn’t have the full SOA story. Take a look at this gallery we’ve created for Paula/Maureen, and tell us in the comments what you think about her. How different do you think the story would have been had John Teller lived – would he have stayed with Maureen as she had hoped?
